The Process Of Marble And Granite Fabrication Has Improved Over The Years

Marble and granite countertops have become very popular of late. In fact most new condos and apartment complexes have either a marble countertop or a granite countertop.

One of the reasons that marble and granite countertops have become so popular in the recent past is the fact that fabrication of these countertops has become a lot easier. Due to advances in technology, it is now possible for granite and marble manufacturers to manufacture more countertops as well as customize the marble and granite countertops.

Earlier, marble and granite countertops fabrication as well as installation used to be a long and tedious process that took several months. Depending on the size of the countertop, it could take more than a month to finish a single piece. This was because, earlier people use to cut and polish the marble and granite slabs. Sometimes 3 people would work on one side of the granite slab.

However, these days most of the processes involved in manufacturing marble and granite countertops have been mechanized. There are three basic types of machines that are involved in the fabrication of these kitchen countertops - saws, polishers, and routers.

These days, marble and granite countertops manufacturers use diamond wire saws to cut through the marble and granite slabs. This makes the process of crafting different sized slabs for the countertop a whole lot easier as well as faster. A metal wire is studded with industrial-grade or synthetic diamonds, and this wire quickly cuts through the stone. A bridge saw is then used to craft the different slabs into kitchen countertops.

Some kitchen countertops manufacturers also use a new type of saw that utilizes water jets combined with an abrasive material to cut through the natural stone. This ensures that the stone is cut and cooled at the same time.
